I created this blog to give anyone interested a bit more detail about the experience I have in developing software. The idea is to demonstrate what I did on a day to day basis while working at Cranswick Computing and what I learnt while doing it. For more info on Cranswick (how long I worked there, contact details etc) please look here.
I decided the best way to do this is to take an average project that I completed and describe my involvement in it from start to finish. I will try and cover the following main areas:
- Systems analysis & Design
- Conceptual modeling
- Database management
- Project management & Quality assurance
- Security
- Ethics & Professional practice
- Interpersonal communications
- Software engineering methodologies
- Program design & implementation
The idea is to keep things short and to the point but give enough detail where required and also provide a few code examples and screenshots. To do this the main body of this article will briefly outline the system requirements and how I went about developing a software solution to meet these requirements in a sequential order from beginning to end of the project.
At each point where more detail is required relating to one of the topics in the list above I will provide a link to a separate page. The links in the list itself can be used to navigate directly to these detail pages that will be grouped by topic.
Ok, let’s get started with an introduction to the project.
